It’s official; spring has sprung—and not a moment too soon.

Here in Philadelphia, the most immediate sign that spring is on the way is the Philadelphia Flower Show, highlighted on NRFGP a few weeks ago, which returns every year at just about the time the natives are about to lose their minds to cabin fever. The delightful sights and scents of flowers and nature (okay, so it’s a gigantic manufactured garden on the second floor of the Convention Center—it’s the best we can do in Philly in early March) allow everyone fed up with winter to believe that better days are on the way.

But it’s still too early, once those blooms disappear, to go for the garden greenery, even if you’ve been bitten by the spring bug that calls for renewal.

Which is where home shows come in. Locally and around the country, home vendors take advantage of the fact that we’re all sick of looking at our houses after being cooped up for months on end. It’s time to redo, repaint, replace and refurbish…well just about everything.

This weekend in Bucks County, PA, the ACS Home Show arrives with tons of tempting home improvement projects and the vendors to help you accomplish your home renovation dreams.

Looking to redo a kitchen? You’ll find cabinets, countertops and design help. Thinking about adding a sunroom? Check out your options in a sample room. Want to go greener with your energy use? Do your research here. There are even design ideas and products for home goods from fireplace surrounds to flooring to mattresses.

When the urge to purge and start over in the home hits, a spring time home shows gives consumers the chance to shake off the winter blues and dream. And admission is free.

From the stuff no one likes to spend money on—roofing and siding, windows, leaf gutter guard systems—to the “fun” stuff, like landscaping and hot tubs, you’ll get a glimpse of what could be along with vendors eager to show home owners how to make dreams a reality.
