If a picture paints a thousand words, then—-you know the rest. So I will just say ‘enjoy’ these shots taken today at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey. The installation is a wonderland for adults, minus the death-defying amusements. Rather, it is the unexpected representations of human form, in all forms, set in very expected settings. Well, you’ll see.
not homeless; just a sculpture taking a mid-afternoon snooze
Remember that kiss? I was there—and boy, is she ever tall!
Everyone loves Marilyn, and yes, there is something under her dress! Made me feel like a size 0000.
I visited with a hot dog man, observed some bathers, saw some Monet and Renoir landscapes, interfered with some lovers on the grass, got caught in the middle of a Frisbee game and went back to the Victorian era—all in the midst of a short afternoon.
The whole thing is the brainchild of Seward Johnson, yes of the J&J fortune. And it houses a lovely restaurant called RATS—yes, oddly enough. Have a bite there and you’ll be in the middle of a Monet.
Open year round, check it out for yourself, and go have a little fun interloping into some interesting scenarios. www.groundsforsculpture.org.
