I know. Halloween is still three days away and the in laws are coming for Thanksgiving, but the Holidays (with capital H) are really not that far away, and this year I want to finish my shopping on time, to avoid the Mall when it’s crowded.
If you want to join me in this non rushed approach to the Holidays, and you live in the Bucks County, PA area, please come next week to Doylestown when the first Friday celebrations will be on full swing.
I talked about this monthly event last June (https://www.notreadyforgrannypanties.com/2011/06/doylestown-first-friday.html). As you may remember the shops are open late that night and the streets are full of music and people.
The stores in Doylestown are unique and offer a wide array of crafts and articles from clothes to furniture you don’t find in the regular mall. On top of that, this particular Friday the Bucks County Illustrators Society has organized its first night out. Sixteen local artists, including our very own Pat Achiles, will present their work: from children’s books to textile designs, from greeting cards (Holiday cards included) to magazines and prints.
The event will take place November 4th at the James-Lorah House (across from the Court House) from 4 PM to 8 PM and it’s free.
As a sample here is a musically inspired card from Pat Achiles.

And, while you’re there, don’t forget to get a copy of Chrysa’s Adventures of the Poodle Posse for your child or grandchild. The stories are fun and Pat’s illustrations, adorable. And yes I know, I am a writer so I’m not exactly impartial, but I do think, no matter the age, books make great gifts.
Hope to see you there!
