The Philadelphia Flower Show

The setting couldn’t be more incongruous.

Philadelphia in the winter is generally not an inviting place. Although we’ve been spared a typical Philly winter this year, by the beginning of March, most citizens of Philadelphia and its environs usually have devolved into snarls and a baring of teeth as our primary means of communication. We’re tired of the bone-chilling cold, the snow-clogged streets, the giant potholes which swallow entire vehicles whole.

We’re in a nasty mood, which makes the annual appearance of the renowned Philadelphia Flower Show, smack in the middle of the honking, bustling streets of Center City Philadelphia, all the more welcome.

The Philadelphia Flower Show, the largest indoor flower show in the world, is a sensory delight, gifting the eye with impossibly gorgeous blooms accompanied by their delicate scents, wafting throughout the 10 plus acres the show occupies in the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 12th and Arch Streets.

Take a mini-vacation to an exotic destination with this year’s theme, Hawaii: Islands of Aloha, as exhibits highlight the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, about as far from a Philly winter as you can get. In addition to the spectacular floral displays, the show features more than 180 vendors offering flowers, plants, garden supplies, crafts, jewelry and much more.

Show information is as follows and tickets can be purchased through the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. (Click here.)
